Dear Church Family, Have you ever tried to walk in the complete dark? It can be painful to try to navigate without seeing where you’re going. A small flashlight or the light on your phone can make a huge difference! I love the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 43 as he is trying to navigate a very difficult season: Psalm 43:3 (ESV) Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling!
What a great prayer when things seem dark all around! Just like the Psalmist, we all need God’s light to brighten our path and make it clear to see. We all need God’s truth to show us the right path to stick to and the wrong path to avoid. Maybe you need this light and truth today in making a difficult decision. Maybe you need them to make it through a hard season of life. You can ask God today to send out His light and truth to lead you. I also love the second half of this verse. As he follows the path that God leads, his hope is that it would bring him to God’s holy hill and dwelling. This represents God’s presence and a place of worship. This is why he says in the next verse: Psalm 43:4 (ESV) Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God.
The Psalmist sought God, not just an answer to prayer. He didn’t just want to know which way to go, but he wanted to find and worship God at the end. It’s important for us to keep God at the center of our lives as we seek His guidance. As we follow His path for us, may it bring us to a place of worship. Worship Him along the path and praise Him at its end. What’s Happening at Gospel Life:Church Potluck: Join us after the morning worship service for a potluck meal this Sunday, February 4th.
