Dear Church Family,

If someone asked you today, “What must I do to be saved,” what would you say? Wouldn’t it be tragic if that moment came, and you didn’t have the answer? Sometimes we are intimidated to share the Gospel because are unsure of what to say. The beauty of the Gospel is that it is both profound and simple. We can spend a lifetime growing in our understanding of this good news, but it is plain enough for a child to understand. In fact, Jesus tells us that we must come to Him with childlike faith.

Mark 10:15 (ESV)
“Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”

In Romans 10, Paul gives us a simple call to salvation. Listen to his words and notice the simplicity.

Romans 10:8-13 (ESV)
But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); 9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Belief is at the core of salvation. Biblical belief is more than head knowledge, but a trust in what you believe. When we believe in Jesus, we are trusting in Him to save us from our sins. We believe that He died for our sins and took our place on the cross. We also must believe that God raised Him from the dead, proving that He is who He says He is and that His payment was accepted by God. It’s important that we know who we are trusting in. Jesus is more than a good man, He is the God-man. He is Lord. When we confess these things, we are repenting of our sins and calling out to God to save us. We know we can’t save ourselves and reach out to the only one who can. When we do this, we can be fully assured that God forgives us and we will be saved. Have you done this? What is keeping you from placing your trust in Jesus today?
Who can you share this good news with today? Remember, you don’t have to overcomplicate the Gospel. Keep it simple and keep Jesus at the center.

Romans 10:14-15 (ESV)
How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? 15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
