Dear Church Family, I’ve been reading through the book of Exodus and I’m on the section that deals with the tabernacle, the priests, and the ceremonial regulations. I’m always stuck when I study through sections like these on the importance of holiness and complete obedience when following the Lord’s instructions. God is very specific instructions for the people, specifically the priest. In Exodus 28, the priest is given specific instructions for his holy garments when he goes before the Lord, including bells on his robe that can be heard while he’s ministering in the holy place. Verse 35 describes the consequences of failing to fully obey:
I am thankful for the incredible grace and mercy that allows me to boldly approach the throne of grace. Reading passages like this one also reminds me the great cost that Jesus paid to bring us that access. God is holy and it is only through the holiness that Jesus Himself gives us that we can have access to God Himself:
